Today was my wedding to Sonya. It seems to go by so fast even though it took so long for the day to arrive. Getting everything prepared was a tight schedule since the wedding was at Basin Creek Reservoir and we weren't allowed to setup the night before. It's a public park, so the caretakers don't care too much about special occasions. I even had to get up to the place right when they opened in order to reserve it for ourselves. Luckily, it wasn't a very well known location and we ended up being the only ones using the park that day. On the other hand, because it wasn't very well known, some of the people got lost and never showed up.
We ended up having a good turnout even though it wasn't what we expected. We managed to get the cake up to the ceremony just in time. It turns out that not even the local baker knew where it was and decided not to deliver it. It took calling them to get the cake up. The music arrived thanks to my coworker friends. And, after what seemed like a few minutes of getting ready, everyone was ready to start. That scared the hell out of me. I turned around and the wedding party was ready to start marching. It didn't feel like everything was ready, but it started anyway. I was up at the gazebo and turned around to see my brothers walking up with Sonya's sister and Rachael behind. A little farther past, Sonya could be seen coming with both her fathers beside her. She looked beautiful in her wedding dress, but it didn't help me calm down.
I handled the repeating of the vows and lighting of the unity candle well. That was the part I thought I would mess up. But, everything went well. The photographer took pictures, and someone even had a video camera that I am still trying to track down. The reception followed at the same place and everyone seemed to have a good time. Afterward we rushed to get all the rental chairs, tables, and tent down so they could be loaded back on the truck and returned to avoid extra charges. It was good to be able to finally leave after a whole day of walking around getting things setup. Now, we are back home, but the memory still makes me nervous.
