Well, there you have it. The end of three years work. Today was officially my last day of work. I know the previous entries made it sound like I quit earlier, but I stayed longer to help out since a replacement couldn't be found.
It's weird. I had to hand over my keys and that was it. I felt weird giving up the usual day of life that I had come to know. I also realized that GameStop wasn't as bad as I thought. It was a job that I had a lot of bad feelings over at times, but it really wasn't a bad job.
I think that GameStop has two major problems it needs to deal with:
- Payroll: They just can't seem to give the proper hours to a store to make it run correctly. How can you run a store off 90 hours. It's crazy. People don't come in when they need to.
- Operational Focus: My third key called GameStop a Kindergarten Corporation. That means that they have a dumb idea that they think is awesome, but is actually very stupid, and they try it out on a large scale instead of testing it first. When they find out the idea fails then they have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and they move on to the next idea until something good comes out of it. Real corporations use focus groups and have more than one test store to work with.
GameStop needs to fix those and then it might be a great place to work. Otherwise, I really do miss the place already. Well, on to school then.
